Knit Night

Knit Night is back! Join us Thursday, November 9th, at Iconik Coffee Roasters on Lena Street. 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. You know the drill…

Twisted Stitch (Mock Cable) Cowl or Scarf              Saturday, November 18th         1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.       $35  

In this class you'll a make cowl or scarf that's perfect as a holiday gift. Once you learn the technique, the pattern is easily memorized, and the finished product appears much more complex than it really is. If you can knit and purl, you can make this beautiful neck piece for a friend or loved one of any sex. Materials needed: 200-400 yards of worsted weight yarn, US8 needles; (for the cowl, 24-inch circular needle, one stitch marker). Beginner level (knows how to knit and purl). Trouble-Shoot Your Knitting                                       Saturday, November 25th          1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.        $35    

Finding and fixing mistakes is an art form in itself. Learn some basic rescue techniques for your knitting: picking up dropped stitches or correcting reversed stitches; knitting backwards (or “tinking”); inserting a lifeline; and ripping back (“frogging”). These techniques can save the day when you make a mistake. Materials: come to class with a 4” x 4” swatch on your needles, worsted-weight or heavier, a size F, G or H crochet hook, and a circular needle in a size smaller than the one on your swatch.

Knit Night at Iconik

Join us Thursday, December 7th, at Iconik Coffee Roasters on Lena Street. 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. Bring your knit or crochet project and join us for some social stitching. Iconik offers coffees, teas, beers, and delicious meals and snacks! We will provide stitching camaraderie and a Designated Knitter.

Knitting 101: Saturday, December 9th, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. $35  

Learn to hold yarn and needles, cast on, and knit. You will also learn how to read yarn labels and other elementary knitting information. You will leave class ready to embark on a simple scarf. Materials needed: one skein of worsted weight yarn in a light, solid color; US8 needles. No experience necessary.

 

 

 

Private Instruction

Yarn & Coffee offers individual instruction or consultation for $20 an hour. Learn to knit or crochet, or bring a project that requires a little focused help, or a design tweak.

Yarn & Coffee is a provider for the Knitted Knockers organization (knittedknockers.org). Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast. Volunteer knitters and crocheters provide them free to those requesting them.
