JANUARY 2018 CLASSES & EVENTS

January Closures: Yarn & Coffee will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, January 15th and 16th.

Knit Night at Iconik                  Join us Thursday, January 4th, at Iconik Coffee Roasters on Lena Street, from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. Bring your knit or crochet project and join us for some social stitching. Iconik offers coffees, teas, beers, and delicious meals and snacks! We will provide stitching camaraderie and a Designated Knitter.

Knit & Purl Sampler           $35                                           Saturday, January 6th, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.                    This class will move you forward in your efforts to master knits and purls with a variety of stitches that incorporate both. You will learn to identify knit stitches versus purl stitches in your rows, and you will learn the difference between stockinette and garter fabric. You’ll try different rib stitches and pattern stitches, and more! Experience needed: Must know how to knit and purl. Materials: smooth, solid color worsted-weight yarn, US7 or US8 needles.

Mitts/Mittens                       $35                                                   Saturday, January 13th, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.      You know how to use DPNs, but the mitt with thumb gusset still eludes you (or you just need a little hands on support). In this class you’ll learn how to create the thumb gusset and pick up stitches to knit the thumb piece. Experience needed: must be comfortable using DPNs without supervision. Materials: 200 yards of worsted-weight yarn; US6 DPNs.

Brioche in the Round          $35                                            Saturday, January 27th, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.       Just for you: a brioche starter class that jumps ahead to the easy stuff. Believe it or not, two-color brioche in the round is easier than brioche worked flat! If you’re fast, you’ll leave class with a finished cowl. Experience needed: must know how to knit and purl in the round. Materials: two contrasting colors of worsted-weight yarn; US8 circular needles 24”.

Knit Night at Iconik                  Join us Thursday, February 1st, at Iconik Coffee Roasters on Lena Street, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m.  (New, earlier hours.) Bring your knit or crochet project and join us for some social stitching. Iconik offers coffees, teas, beers, and delicious meals and snacks! We will provide stitching camaraderie and a Designated Knitter. In addition, February 1st marks Yarn & Coffee's fifth anniversary! Partaaay!
